Holden's enemies and friends follow him to the strange place where the alien subway deposited him. Then they all shoot it out, mostly with each other, but eventually the right people get shot. Then Elvi teams up with Miller, and with her brains and his giant alien carapace, they manage to reach the incomprehensible thing they've all been seeking.
